Educational Conferences

Intern Bootcamp
  • To support our new interns as they transition to residency, we have created an interactive curriculum for the beginning of residency
  • During these protected lectures, experienced attendings will go over common medical conditions and practical tips to empower residents with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in both the inpatient and outpatient settings

Intern Report
  • PGY-1 residents present a case to their co-interns on a weekly basis that highlights a fundamental topic in internal medicine
  • Cases are interactive and focus on the approach to history taking, patient assessment, diagnostic work-up, and high value cost conscious care
  • Interns prepare a case with the guidance of a chief resident
Senior Report
  • PGY-2 residents present a case to the housestaff on a weekly basis that highlights interesting pathology and approach to management
  • Residents prepare a case with the guidance of a chief resident

Board Review
  • Internal medicine faculty, subspecialists, and chief residents lead a board review lecture series that occurs throughout the year.
  • Board review questions are answered and reviewed via an audience participation app - Kahoot
  • Board review is aligned with the ABIM Exam Blueprint and reinforces areas of improvement based on ITE (in-training exam) score reports
Attack the Literature
  • Attack the Literature aims address clinical questions that arise on the wards and inform the house staff of the answer and its evidence
Journal Club
  • Residents are split into groups of 10-15, along with a faculty attending and chief resident, to analyze a research article
  • The research article is dissected to learn hypothesis generation, study design, statistical analysis, and results interpretation, and application to clinical practice

Morbidity and Mortality Conference
  • PGY-3 residents present a case to the housestaff that highlights system-level issues with potential for meaningful discussion and improvement.
  • Provides an opportunity for residents, attending physicians and specialists to learn potential practice changing behaviors to ensure patient safety and improved outcomes.
Grand Rounds
  • Invited speakers from across the country present on a wide range of riveting topics on a monthly basis
  • Discussions may include hot topics in medicine, evidence-based medicine, new research, innovations in medicine & technology, healthcare inequalities & disparities, the interface of medicine and society, and more!

Senior Clinical Reasoning
  • Core faculty present a case to PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents with a goal to work through a case highlighting skills of a hospitalist including recognition of symptoms to diagnosis, application of evidence-based medicine, and a review of common ABIM topics in a case-based format.
An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.
