Why did you choose ACMC?
I grew up just a few blocks north of Christ hospital in the Scottsdale neighborhood. I was once a patient at Hope Children’s hospital. It was the hospital I completed my Eagle Scout project for. That I volunteered for in undergrad. Whose EMS academy I graduated from in 2016 as a Paramedic. The same hospital that saved my grandfather’s life just 4 years ago when he had a heart attack. ACMC is more than a residency program to me. I chose it because it’s part of my community, my home. Because it’s been an integral part of the life experiences, that have shaped me as both a person and the provider I am today. I am elated to have been chosen for this residency, and I consider it my honor and privilege to now give back the place that built me.

The diversity in the staff, patient population and abundance of unique pathology. The program not only is a great learning institution but everyone makes you feel welcomed, is genuinely nice, nurturing, interested in your well-being and treats you like family. I couldn't ask for more in a program coming from a different country.

Matthew Posen, DO

Hometown: Medinah, Illinois
Undergraduate School: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Medical School: Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine
Career Plan: Gastroenterology
Hobbies/Interests: Hiking, biking, horror movies, and making stained glass windows

Why did you choose ACMC?
I chose ACMC to be able to work in a high-volume hospital so that I could serve a diverse patient population with interesting case pathologies. Additionally, ACMC was best suited to provide me the opportunities to explore sub-specialties for my future career. While I was only able to do a OB/GYN rotation at Christ during my clinical years of medical school, I found myself surrounded by friendly residents, attendings invested in teaching, and a well-maintained hospital facility.
