Meet our program

Joseph Kowalczyk, MD
Chairman, Department of Medicine

​Dr. Joseph Kowalczyk is the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He completed his medical education at Rush Medical College and completed his internal medicine residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. He has been a beacon of excellence in his service to the community as a primary care physician, his progressive leadership for the institution, and his passion for improving education for the internal medicine residency. ​

Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency

Dr. Jeff Ording is the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Advocate Christ Medical Center. A graduate of the same program, Dr. Ording brings a strong foundation in academic medicine, clinical leadership, and resident mentorship. Prior to this role, he served as Associate Program Director at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he led the Clinical Competency Committee, spearheaded initiatives such as the COVID Recovery Clinic, lead curriculum development for clinical simulation, and partnered with the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

Board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Ording earned his medical degree from Rush University. His academic appointments include Clinical Associate Professor at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He has broad academic interests and has recently been excited by the advances of Artificial Intelligence in clinical medicine.

Dr. Ording is passionate about cultivating the next generation of internists and fostering a collaborative, learner-centered environment. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife, a former ACMC MICU nurse, and their two daughters.
